boring helicopter game: privacy policy
Last updated: 30 October 2026
THE SHORT VERSION
The game asks before it shares anything. If you say yes, it sends anonymous play statistics, so that we can see how the game is played and make it better. Nothing it sends says who you are: there are no names, no accounts, no advertising IDs, no adverts and no tracking across other apps or sites. If you say no, nothing about your play leaves your device.
WHAT IS SHARED, IF YOU SAY YES
The first time the mission select opens, the game asks whether it may share play statistics. Until you answer, what happens in the game is kept on your device only; if you say yes, that goes with the rest, and if you say no, it is thrown away and nothing is sent. If you say yes, it sends:
How the game is played: which missions are played, on which difficulty, how long they take, where players get stuck, lose a life, fail or stop, and whether a mission is completed; how long the game is open, and how often; which of the game's features are used, how often and, for bullet time, for how long (climbing, the gun, bullet time, the winch, the landing gear, the camera, the bucket and the helipads); whether the story scenes (the intro, the briefings and the debriefs) are watched or skipped; and what is tapped on the mission select (which missions are chosen, replayed or tried again, whether a supply crate's missions, BUY or RESTORE are tapped, and whether SHARE is tapped and the game then shared, the share sheet closed or the link copied; never who it was shared with); how long the game took to load and how long from opening it to the first flight; and whether the General's tips (in the flying school, to hold a button down or to follow the arrow; in the two missions after it, to try bullet time when the helicopter is being hit) were followed.
How a mission was: now and then, at the end of a mission's debrief, the General asks how the player found it. If the General asks and they answer, which of his four replies they picked is sent; nothing if they don't.
Buying a supply crate: what happened when BUY or RESTORE was tapped: whether the crate was bought, the purchase was cancelled or failed (and the store's own word for why), or crates were restored; for BUY, how many seconds the store's payment window was open; and, if the game was closed while the store's payment sheet was open, whether the store had the crate as bought when the game was next opened. Nothing more about the purchase is sent. Payment details are never seen by the game at all: only Google Play or the App Store sees them.
What it is played on: whether it runs as the Android app, the iOS app or in a browser, whether it is flown with a touch screen, a game controller or a keyboard, which version of the game it is, and how smoothly it runs (its frame rate, how long the game's own code takes over each frame, the graphics level it runs at, and what the game's automatic graphics check measured and chose); how many processor cores and roughly how much memory the device has and the name of its graphics chip, as the browser reports them, with each stretch of flying and each graphics check; and whether a second screen is in use (a handheld with two screens).
Errors: the game's own error message, if something goes wrong; and, if Google Play's shop won't open in the Android app, the name and main version of the browser the game is running in.
When and where: the day, the time each batch of statistics reaches the game's site (to the minute), and the country your connection comes from. Our host, Cloudflare, works out the country from the connection; your IP address itself is not kept. Each batch of statistics carries a random number of its own, so that one sent twice is counted once; it says nothing about you. And each time the game is opened it picks another random number, which goes with everything sent from that opening, so that one sitting's statistics can be read together: it is new every time the game opens, is kept on the device only with statistics still waiting to be sent, and cannot link one sitting to the next.
The statistics go to the game's own site, which Cloudflare hosts for us, and are kept for two years. They are not sold or shared with anyone, and nothing in them can be traced back to you. You can change your answer at any time with SHARE PLAY STATS in the pause menu's settings: switched off, nothing more is sent, and anything still waiting to be sent is deleted.
WHAT STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE
These are stored on your own device, by the game, for the game:
Your progress and settings: which missions you have completed, your best times, a mission you saved half way, and the switches in the pause menu. Clearing the app's data, or RESET PROGRESS in the game, removes them.
Your voice recordings, if you make any in the voice studio. The microphone is used only while you press START RECORDING there, and only to record the line you chose. Recordings are kept on your device so the game can play them back; they are never uploaded, shared or sent to us or to anyone else. REMOVE in the studio deletes a recording, and clearing the app's data deletes them all.
For the play statistics, if you said yes: the first and the last day they were sent, so that each day's play is counted once; which of the game's features have been used on this device, so that each is counted once; and any statistics not yet sent (waiting for a connection, or cut off when the app was closed), which go the next time the game opens. Clearing the app's data removes them.
PERMISSIONS
Microphone: only for the voice studio, as above. The game is fully playable without it.
Motion sensors: if you leave FLICK TO SLOW on, the game reads the phone's motion to notice a flick of the wrist. The readings are used at that moment and not stored.
Vibration: so that hits can be felt. It can be switched off in the pause menu.
CHILDREN
The game is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age.
CHANGES
If a later version of the game ever changes what it shares, this page will say so before that version is released, and the game will ask again where the law requires it.
